Coloring Of Zirconia Blocks

Jul 31, 2023

Liners in zirconia blocks and recently used staining solutions are common methods for compensating for the white color of zirconia's influence on the final color of the restoration. Infiltration techniques can stain the framework of crowns and bridges. However, staining with staining solutions has a number of drawbacks. To begin, each brand offers different solutions that contain different pigment types and ratios, allowing them to provide a variety of colors for the framework. Furthermore, each brand of dental zirconia blocks has a different porosity, which can affect the color of the frame. As a result, coloring zirconia frames is a difficult and precise task.

The final color of the zirconia block may also change over time as a result of evaporation or precipitation, which causes different pigment concentrations in the dye solution. Finally, coloring with solutions necessitates more time and effort. The goal of this research was to create self-colored dental zirconia blocks for the purpose of analyzing their properties such as microhardness, fracture toughness, color difference, microstructure, and phase formation.
